Recourse to International Arbitration Excluded in Tanzania

 

The Public Private Partnership (Amendment) Bill 2018, which has been approved by the Tanzanian Parliament on September 12, 2018, provides that any related dispute be referred exclusively to its domestic courts, excluding international arbitration.

This new legislation seems to be the consequence of the negative result for Tanzania of various ICSID arbitral proceedings.
