Frequently Asked Questions

How to start arbitral proceedings

Arbitral proceedings are instituted either when a dispute arises under an arbitration clause in a contract or – when the dispute has already arisen – by entering into a submission agreement.

In the event of a dispute as to which the arbitration agreement provides that it be administered by the European Court of Arbitration, the Request for Arbitration is filed with its Registrar competent by territory.

Conduct of the proceedings

The CEA Rules have been written to guide the parties and their counsel during the entire proceedings.
